From June 8th to 12th in 2023, international art tapestry brand FULI collaborated with Dame Zandra Rhodes DBE RD who is the iconic British fashion designer and fashion industry legend to globally debut the “Energy Garden” art tapestry collection in Shanghai, and presented a colorful immersive exhibition. The spatial design of this exhibition fully utilized classic print elements of Zandra Rhodes which inject vibrant energy into the space through mixing outdoor floral elements with indoor scenes. Meanwhile, this exhibition provided a multi-sensory experience of the immersive “Energy Garden” for the audience.
The theme of collaborative exhibition between Zandra Rhodes and FULI is Energy Garden. At the 3C52 booth, she said in an interview with NetEase Design reporter: “My design concept comes from my travels around the world. Whether it is a beautiful and ancient tree or a passer-by wearing cute bow, I would decide to paint it. The inspiration for each artwork comes from a painting I have done in the past.” Zandra Rhodes hopes that her designs can spark people’s interest and make them want to bring them home. As a designer, she only exists when people need her.
The Energy Garden art tapestry collection which is a collaboration between FULI and Dame Zandra Rhodes marks her first foray into high-level art tapestry design in her nearly 60-year design career. She intends to bring healing and energy to people through the bright and colorful hues, fun and nature-inspired patterns of this collection. She also hopes it can encourage people to keep optimism in the ever-changing environment.
The collaboration between FULI and Dame Zandra Rhodes began in 2021. Taking two years of careful craftsmanship and contemplation, Dame Zandra Rhodes specially created five series of designs for FULI, including “Wild Chrysanthemum”, “Path of Clouds”, “Makeup Dot”, “Star Butterfly” and “Lily Whispers”. Each series includes a carpet and a tapestry with a variety of wonderful color combinations.
Dame Zandra Rhodes, 82, is a British fashion and textile designer and is widely recognized as the “fashion mother.” She has designed clothes for various members of the British royal family and celebrities, including Princess Diana. She has also designed stage costumes for rock stars such as Freddie Mercury of Queen and Marc Bolan of T. Rex.
In her design experience, Dame Zandra Rhodes often draws inspiration from nature and organic materials. Her creations of butterfly, seashell and feather patterns have become her signature designs. In this collection, she reexamined her iconic print designs and creatively crafted the Energy Garden series, which is vibrant and lively, as well as be full of natural healing power.
During the design exhibition in Shanghai, FULI created an offline immersive experience around the Energy Garden, showcasing a garden space with strong colors for audience to deeply experience the unique qualities of the tapestry collection. The “Source of Energy” installation presented in the exhibition center symbolizes FULI’s spirit of empowering new lives through art.
In addition, FULI has always emphasized sustainable design since its inception. The Energy Garden series of tapestries which is woven with new techniques and materials are durable and bring a natural atmosphere to indoor spaces.
